CSU’s economic impact in Colorado

CSU has just celebrated its 142nd birthday! We recently finished a study that looks at the various means by which CSU impacts the state economy. First, with more than 7,300 employees, CSU is one of the state’s largest employers. Just more than 10 percent of CSU’s annual budget comes from the state government; most is through grants and tuition. More important, CSU helps create human capital. CSU has 99,000 living alumni in Colorado, with nearly 60,000 employed. relative to people without a college degree, CSU graduates, on average, earn higher wages and are less likely to be unemployed. They also tend to pay more in taxes, both at the state and local level. Finally, CSU research and engagement activities create new businesses and help make existing businesses more competitive.

In the slideshow that follows we quantify some of the important ways CSU impacts the Colorado economy.
